Wheel of Time and Other Stuff

Besides playing PSP games and self-studying Java, reading has also been eating a LOT of my time. A month ago, I started reading Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series. I'm now burying my nose on the 5th installment of the series, and I must say that I am enjoying every bit of it. I even had a few dreams that I was an Aes Sedai. Hahaha funny. I think those who have the luxury to spend some of their time reading must include the WoT series in their list of books to read.

I also squeezed a Nicholas Sparks novel (Dear John) sometime when I was reading WoT's Book 2. I found it in Kuya's room (he's my source of books to read :D). It seemed interesting, and when I started reading it, I couldn't put it down so I finished it in a night. My eyes were puffy from crying because of that book. It was the first Nicholas Sparks novel that I read... I don't know if I'd want to read another though. I don't want to cry like that again.

On to other things. Last Saturday, Argel and I went out with my high school friends to play badminton somewhere in Marikina. The badminton courts there I think are a lot cheaper compared to the ones located in Quezon City. It was my first time to play badminton with a net. :D I tire easily though, so I was the one who played the least games. Most of the time, I just watched them play doubles. I think Argel was in most of the games (doubles and singles). And I also lost to Argel a number of times. I didn't win even once against him. Huhu

Then Sunday was PBA night. It was my first time to watch a PBA game. The game was between Ginebra and Air 21 at the Big Dome. I'm not a basketball fan, but I really enjoyed watching the game, not just because of the tight game, but also because of watching people get excited with all the shouting and the booing and the trash talking fans. Argel and the other guys were among the fans who were yelling at the top of their lungs (Jeric and Yugs and two other SZ guys were there). Because of the atmosphere at the coliseum, I even found myself also cheering for Ginebra. Hehe :D They won the game last Sunday. Tomorrow is Game 7, we won't be watching it but I hope Ginebra wins. :)

Hmmm... That's it. I will be blogging again when I feel like it. :D

Nye!

Last Saturday night, Charles celebrated his 230th birthday with us, his dear high school friends, at dampa somewhere in MoA area.
After eating, we were supposed to go to Global Fun, but because of our full stomachs, we decided not to go in since we won't be able to ride the attractions (actually, ayaw lang ng mga boys kasi takot sila dun sa rides, especially the one na nagtri-360 degrees na ikot). So Starbucks na lang, hinintay namin ang 12mn for Charles birthday (Dec 2 kasi talaga ang birthday niya).

That's it. I mean, ma-hug. Hehe

Happy Birthday!

Yesterday, I celebrated my 23rd birthday. I thought it would be a lonely birthday, I thought wrong. :D Mami didn't have to leave yesterday, my high school friends (Jaki and Bogs, Paula and Marlo, Erthen and Charles, and Lyka) came over, and Argel came back from the christening he had to attend. :x

It was a happy day for me... (although the afternoon was spent on finalizing the presentation for the paper. yuck) I was surrounded by people I love. \:)/ Weeeee!

23! The cake and balloons were given by my highschool friends. Notice the age written on the cake greeting. :D

Hmm... salamat sa lahat ng bumati! :D Yun muna for now, daming ginagawa eh. Hahaha :P

HP5 on IMAX

May contain spoilers?

Watched the fifth installment of the Harry Potter movie series twice already. I was with my brother the first time in a theater near our house (last Friday), the second time, I was with Jaki and Bogs, my high school friends, and we watched it on IMAX yesterday. Yeah! IMAX!

Although it was only around 20 minutes of film that was rendered in 3-D, the IMAX experience was great. It felt like I could reach out and touch the prophecies on the shelves... And the shards of broken glass looked like they were dropping all around me. Ang galing talaga. Coolness! :D

The IMAX HP5 ticket costs 400php. I was only able to watch it because Bogs said that I uhh... won in a bet I made with him... talk about being lucky! XD

:">

Argel and I were supposed to eat dinner somewhere in UP. We were walking to the place where we were going to eat when I received a text message from my high school friend Bogs saying he was at Metro East with his girlfriend Jaki, and that they wanted to see me. So I went to meet with my friends... Argel was with me. :D Eh we were on a tight budget. So, what happened was, Bogs and Jaki treated us to dinner at Greenwich. :D

Greenwich was already closing so we went to the nearby McDonald's Marcos Highway for dessert. As usual, wala na naman akong ginawa kundi tumawa. Hehe Tagal din ng kwentuhan dun... na most of the time ay tumatawa lang ako. :D Nung napansing late na, ayun... uwian na.

Tapos...

Choco-butter nut na. :)

Not Bored Today

I watched Sunshine with my high school barkada today. Bogs and Jaki, and Charles and Erthen arrived after I did. ;) And, I was the only one who brought a jacket, sila nilamig... or maybe not. Ay si Lyka pala alam ko nilamig. :D Great movie btw. :D

On the way out, we passed by Pizza Hut where a radio was blaring just outside its entrance. Hahahaha Funny! Eh sino ba kasing nagsabing dapat sagutin lahat ng nanliligaw? Di ba? ;)

Saturday Night at Fridays

Late January birthday celebrants of my high school barkada took us out to dinner at Fridays. These are the birthday boys, Bogs and Marlo. Sweet nila no? Hahaha
And these are the beautiful girls. Especially the one at the far right. Hehe joke! From left to right, Paula (Marlo's girlfriend), Jaki (Bogs' girlfriend), Lyka, Erthen (Charles' girlfriend - wala sa pictures kasi siya yung photographer), and me. :D Everybody is working already except me and Lyka, who is also an MS student at UPD. Special Education yata, or something like that. Hehe
After the sumptuous dinner, we went to our house and talked. Mga 9pm yun. As in pagdating sa bahay, umupo, and then one started talking about high school days... and then bigla na lang 11:30pm na! Time really flies when you're enjoying. Hahaha

Ayun. Reminiscing high school days. Haaay I missed these guys. :D

Haha

One of my kabarkadas from high school is working as an accountant somewhere in Makati. Yesterday morning, he called me from work, and he was complaining about the silence in the office. Our conversation went something like this:
My friend: Nababagot na ako dito. Ang tahimik.
Me: Eh di makinig ka ng music sa pc.
My friend: Kung pwede lang eh no?
My friend: ...
Me: Ay! Hahahaha Oo nga pala. Sorry!
The funny thing is, he only has one ear. His left ear is deformed and he can't hear with it. I totally forgot about this. What was I thinking?! Hahaha

Something like this also happened years ago when I borrowed his cellphone. A common friend called him on his phone and I answered for him. After talking for a while, I absent-mindedly held his phone over his left ear saying, "O, ikaw na raw kakausapin." He said, "Ano ka ba? Wala akong maririnig diyan!"

Haha sana hindi na maulit.

Bogs, Jaki, Charles, and I

Last Sunday, Bogs organized a bowling session for our high school barkada. But due to some unfortunate events, only four of us made it that afternoon, Bogs and his girlfriend Jaki, Charles, and I.

Anyway, we arrived at the bowling alley at around 3 in the afternoon and alas! The lady behind the counter said there was an ongoing bowling tournament so we couldn't play. We decided to watch a movie instead. We bought the tickets for The Hills have Eyes, but since the movie was still an hour away, we went to Planet Toys first to let the time pass. There we saw Barney dolls that we hated, Mickey Mouse toys that amused us, toy cars that we want to buy... haha we felt the kids today are lucky. They have these amazing toys that we didn't have when we were the kids.

So after 40 minutes of looking/playing at/with toys, we went to the movie house and watched the movie. What can I say about the movie? Well... let's just say that I liked the trailers more than the movie itself. Like hello!? It was dragging. And when it ended, I did not get the sense of the movie at all.

After the movie, they ate dinner. And we succeeded in having Bogs eat the vegetables on his plate (he hates veggies) :D. I saw Charles' sunglasses on the table and I said, 'Thanks for the graduation gift :D." hahaha And from that instant, I never let go of the glasses until we parted and he said smiling, "sige na nga!" :D

I have such great friends! Thanks again Charles. :D

First Time Ko?

Three days ago was probably my day of first times.

After all the times that a company has called me to take an exam, I finally replied with a yes (just because I have nothing to do at home). So it was my first time to take an exam, and it was my first time to go to Makati alone. It was my first time to go to RCBC Plaza, where I took the exam. :D Anyway, so I had the exam... which was ok by the way. But I doubt I'll be working for that company. I don't like programming actually, and that's what they do in that company. If ever I do programming, it must be in VHDL or Verilog at least.

So there. After the exam, it was my first time to see a friend who works in Makati. He brought me to a 7-11 store, and I bought, for the very first time, a hotdog sandwich from 7-11. From there, he let me ride an FX that took me to Landmark. It was my first time there too. Since my sandals where killing my feet, I bought slippers using a gift certificate my Mami gave me (my first time to use a gift certificate). :D I windowshopped for two hours more, and I finally went to Glorietta to wait for my friends.

So I waited there until they came. We ate at Sizzling Seafood, it was my first time to eat there. And it was my first time to eat with my already working friends. After eating, we went to Gateway via the MRT. We were supposed to go home, but Charles said to stop by Dunkin Donuts. So we went to Dunkin Donuts just outside Gateway. It was my first time there too. :D Bogs bought me a donut and an Ice Coffee yum yum. It was my first time to taste the Ice Coffee. :D Anyway, after some idle talk, we didn't realize an hour and a half has passed, so we went home. :D

Haha, I had a good day. Meeting with old friends... talking... swapping stories just like old times - though the conversation sometimes turn to more serious matters like taxes and salary. Haha I can't blame them, with them working and all... :D

I was supposed to post this two days ago, but I didn't have internet access until now. :D

Of Things Twice

I have had to change my password twice this semester. Teejay saw me typing my password at the linux command prompt when I changed my account's password, and also when I typed my password in the wrong field when signing in to yahoo mail. Both instances happened in our CoE197a class. What I hate about this is changing all my passwords for all my other whatever accounts, since I use only one password. I pray it never happens again.

Yesterday was the birthday of one of my best buddies. And I remembered that only a few minutes ago. I was like... Oh nooooo... I forgot his birthday... again. Yes, last year was no different. That time, I called him on the day of his birthday, asking if he had some money. He thought I called to ask for a libre... but no. I called him because one of our friends was in trouble, and was badly in need of money. And only on the way to our friend's house that I realized that it was his birthday. Shame on me... forgetting my friend's birthday twice in a row. Once again, I pray it never happens again.
